ST. IGNACE, Mich. (AP) - Michigan drivers soon will be able to choose from two new license plates featuring the state's "Pure Michigan" tourism logo.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson unveiled both plates Wednesday at the Mackinac Bridge.
One yellow-and-blue plate bears the image of the Mackinac Bridge.
The other plate is blue-and-white, with a small "Pure Michigan" logo at the top.
The bottom of the plate also features the state's tourism website, www.michigan.org.
The blue-and-white plate eventually will replace the one commonly used by most Michigan motorists. The standard plate will be available in early 2013, followed by the Mackinac Bridge plate.
Michigan produces about 1.4 million license plates annually. Secretary of State officials say they're made by inmates at a correctional facility in the southern Michigan community of Adrian.
