GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Michiganders favor a plan to tax items bought online, a new EPIC-MRA poll released Friday reveals.
By a margin of 54-39%, respondents strongly favored or somewhat favored the proposal to require people in Michigan who purchase goods on the Internet to pay the same sales tax they would pay if they bought that item at a physical store.
Of the 54% in favor, 31% strongly favor the plan, with another 23% somewhat favoring. The 39% opposition shows 9% somewhat oppose the idea with another 30% strongly opposing it.
Another 7% were either undecided or refused to answer.
The poll conducted for WOOD TV8 and our media partners was conducted between Jan. 21-25, 2012 with 600 likely voters. The margin of error is plus/minus 4%.
