GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Tropical Storm Isaac's threat to the Gulf of Mexico has caused gas prices around the country to rise.
24 Hour News 8 noticed several gas stations in Kent County posting a price of $4.09 late Tuesday morning.
GasBuddy.com made the prediction and warned drivers on Monday via Twitter.
The average price for a gallon of unleaded fuel in Michigan is $3.94, as of 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to the website.
Many oil companies have evacuated their employees from oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico as Tropical Storm Isaac approaches the southern coast of the United States.
Experts estimate 75 to 90 percent of gulf oil production could be shut down because of the storm.

The last time West Michigan saw gas prices more than $4 a gallon was in March when prices reached $4.15.
