DETROIT (AP) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it seized $300,000 worth of counterfeit knit Detroit Tigers hats and headbands en route to Michigan from China.

The agency said Wednesday that the seizure was initiated in Detroit in November. It says the goods were heading to the Detroit suburb of Warren. A total of 112 boxes containing hats and headbands are being held in secure storage following the seizure.

Authorities say the Tigers' "D" was being illegally used on the counterfeit goods.
