GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A plurality of Michiganders do not approve of the changes to education promoted by Gov. Rick Snyder, reveals a new EPIC-MRA poll released Friday.
The poll, done for WOOD TV8 and our media partners, shows 48% disapprove of the changes in the area of Michigan public school education, while only 36% approve.
The 600 respondents were asked, "Governor Snyder, with legislative support, has made a number of changes in the area of education in Michigan, including making cuts in funding public schools and colleges, changing the way public school teachers are evaluated for their job performance, changing the way public schools can qualify for additional state funds based on how teacher benefits are provided, as well as other changes. Based on what you know, overall, do you approve or disapprove of Governor Snyder’s education policies?"
Only 17% strongly approved and another 19% somewhat approved. However, 30% strongly disapproved and another 18% somewhat disapproved.
The remaining 16% were either undecided or refused to answer the question.
The poll has a margin of error of plus/minus 4%.
