Midwest website eases highway travel

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Motorists in the states along the shores of Lake Michigan now have an updated website to ease their travels.

Illinois and other members of the Lake Michigan Interstate Gateway Alliance are launching a new travel website offering maps, traffic alerts and other information in southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois and Indiana, and southwestern Michigan.

The website encompasses approximately 1,570 roadway miles across 51 counties in the four-state alliance coverage area. The traffic map features pan and zoom features and user customization. There are trucker reports, redesigned traffic reports, camera features and highlighted travel time alerts with multiline banner messages.

The system is staffed around the clock.
