Gambling proposals try to make ballot

Supporters need more than 380,000 signatures

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Two gambling proposals are trying to make the November ballot in Michigan. Supporters would have to gather more than 380,000 voter signatures by early July to qualify.

--One measure would allow seven new casinos in the state. Casinos would be authorized for Benton Harbor, Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Muskegon and Romulus along with slot machines at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

--Another measure would allow up to eight new casinos statewide. Five would located at Michigan horse racing tracks.
