LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Bobcat hunting season is under way in northern Michigan.
The season runs through March 1 in the Upper Peninsula and the 10 northernmost counties in the Lower Peninsula. It ends a month earlier in the area known as District D, which includes the following counties: Clare, Crawford, Gladwin, Iosco, Kalkaska, Missaukee, Ogemaw, Osceola, Roscommon and Wexford, plus a portion of Arenac County.
The season bag limit for bobcat is two per person, although just one bobcat may be taken in some areas.
A valid fur harvester license is required for anyone hunting or trapping furbearing animals, including bobcats.
Hunting bobcats also requires a free kill tag, which is available from license agents or a Department of Natural Resources service center. Hunters must register their kills at DNR offices.
