PAW PAW, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman was injured after at least two vehicles hit her as she walked on a highway exit ramp, according to the Paw Paw Police Department.
It was at around 1:45 a.m. Monday when the incident occurred on the westbound exit ramp to M-40 in Paw Paw.
A news release says a driver flagged down an officer who was headed to the scene. The driver said she hit the victim, who was lying in the road after being hit by another vehicle.
The first vehicle that apparently struck the victim was found when officers followed a trail of radiator fluid from the scene to a nearby store. This driver said she was traveling up the ramp and saw the victim standing in the middle of the ramp, but could not avoid hitting her.
The second driver told police that an orange-colored vehicle, which was traveling ahead of her, might have also struck the victim.
The orange vehicle was last seen traveling north on M-40. Police are not certain if this vehicle hit the victim, but would like to find and speak to the driver.
The victim, whose name and age have not been released, was taken to a Kalamazoo hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time. It is also unknown at this time why the woman was walking on the ramp at the time of the accident.
Police say it appears alcohol may be involved in this investigation.
