Driver hurt after vehicle strikes horse

POKAGON TOWNSIHP, Mich. (WOOD) - A vehicle, occupied by a woman and a child, struck a horse in a Cass County road, police said.

Krista Hartman, 35, from Dowagiac was driving north along M-51 north of Wells Street in Pokagon Township when the accident occurred.

Her passenger was 2-year-old Alexander Hartman from Dowagiac.

Police and rescue personnel arrived at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday and transported Krista to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for treatment to unspecified injuries.

"Seat belts and child restraints were used at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation," according to a news release.

No other information has been released.
