NILES, Mich. (WOOD) - One person died after an ultralight aircraft crashed in a wooded area north of downtown Niles.
Michigan State Police confirmed to WNDU that the victim is 50-year-old Christopher McKenna of Elkhart, Ind.
Several emergency departments responded around 4:45 p.m. Saturday to the crash site near Clark Street and M-51, after another pilot spotted the wreckage and called for help.
The cause of the crash is unknown and the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
