GIRARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A Quincy man was taken to the hospital after hitting a deer with his motorcycle.

It happened around 11:35 a.m. Sunday in Branch County's Girard Township.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene find Scot Olney, 43, lying on the side of the road. He was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County and then to the Borgess Trauma Unit for further care.

The nature and severity of his injuries are unknown.

Olney was headed west on Girard Road not far from Lutes Road when the deer ran in front of him, according to sheriff's deputies' investigation. The motorcycle hit the deer and Olney was injured in the collision.

Olney was wearing his helmet, authorities said, and alcohol was not a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
