GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A woman surrendered to authorities after a warrant was issued for her arrest regarding a drunken-driving crash last fall.
Crystal Rose and her 5-year-old son were injured in the wreck, and Rose admitted to police that she consumed 1 to 1.5 pints of whiskey before getting in her mother's car that evening.
Rose turned herself into a South Haven courthouse on Feb. 22 in relation to the warrant and incident. She was arraigned that day and released on her own recognizance. She will be back in court on March 19.
Rose, 25, from Paw Paw was driving with her 5-year-old son along 60th Street near Eighth Avenue in Geneva Township the night of Nov. 29, 2012.
The vehicle crossed the center line and went into the opposite lane, then off the road and struck a tree, police said.
Rose was not wearing a seat belt and her son was not in a car seat but may have had a seat belt on, police said.
The Van Buren County Prosecutor's Office reviewed the case and authorized a misdemeanor warrant for operating while intoxicated with an occupant less than 16 years of age.
