ANTWERP TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department continues to search for those responsible for several apparently related arsons.
Deputies were dispatched around 12:10 a.m. Wednesday to a vehicle fire at Car Connection, 22671 Red Arrow Highway in Antwerp Township.
Police discovered someone threw a Molotov cocktail at a vehicle in the parking lot, and the cocktail landed on the roof, according to a news release.
The vehicle caught on fire and the flames were extinguished before the vehicle could become a total loss.
The Mattawan Police Department reported three earlier arsons at the White Pines Mobile Home Park. Police said the suspect or suspects threw one Molotov cocktail under a vehicle, another in front of a home, and a third at a separate home that resulted in a broken window.
All three fires were extinguished before any extensive damage occurred.
Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to call the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department at 269.657.3101, Silent Observer at 1.866.774.2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.342.7867.
