COLDWATER, Mich. (WOOD) - Some McDonald's restaurant employees are being credited with preventing an attempted abduction of two young girls.

A man tried to abduct two 8-year-old girls during the late afternoon hours of Jan. 18 at the restaurant at 381 E. Chicago St., according to a news release.

But the employees intervened and tried to detain the suspect who ran from the scene.

Coldwater Department of Public Safety officers and Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched at 5:31 p.m. and apprehended the suspect a short time later.

The suspect, a 35-year-old Union City resident, was taken to the Branch County Jail.

The children were not injured.
