THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Michigan State University student from Three Rivers has returned home safely after being missing for about a week, and he apologized for his abrupt disappearance.
Marco Drayton, 20, disappeared July 22 when he was supposed to go a friend's house but never arrived. Family and friends became concerned.
Drayton was found safe Saturday night, according to the Three Rivers Police Department, which did not release further details.
Drayton posted a video message on his Facebook page Sunday afternoon in which he said he left and returned of his own will, and apologized for his disappearance.
He said he "was having a personal dilemma" that he felt he needed to handle alone and didn't tell anyone he was leaving because he "did not know when, or if," he would return.
"I realize that what I did was extremely selfish and I had no right to leave everyone in the dark," he said in the video.
Drayton said he visited Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia, and then returned to Cleveland, Ohio, after hearing about the search for him.
He also said he is grateful for all the prayers people offered for him. He said he never expected the kind of response he got from the community upon his return.
He said he is "sincerely sorry" for the pain he caused family, friends and community members.
