GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man has admitted to causing a deadly, drunken-driving crash.

David Johnson pleaded guilty March 8 in Van Buren County Circuit Court to charges of second-degree murder and operating while intoxicated causing death.

As part of a plea deal, he will serve a minimum of 19.5 years in prison. A judge will decide the maximum sentence during a hearing on April 19.

Investigators said Johnson's blood alcohol content was four-times more than the legal limit when he caused a chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles in November 2012 in Geneva Township.

The head-on collision resulted in the deaths of Brittney King and her nieces -- 4-year-old Cassadi Berryhill and her 2-year-old sister, Kandice Berryhill. The children were not belted properly in the vehicle.

Justin Berryhill, the father of the young girls, was injured.

The driver of the third car -- Kathy Fuentes from South Haven -- was not injured.
