STURGIS, Mich. (WOOD) - A parolee from Lapeer was found Thursday in Sturgis after fleeing from a work detail earlier this week.
Darrell Stallard, 31, was assigned to the Michigan Department of Corrections Tuscola Residential Re-entry Program. He walked away from a lawn-mowing job at the Thumb Correctional Facility on Tuesday, according to a news release.
A statewide search began and resulted in Stallard being located while hiding in an outbuilding behind a house Thursday night. Authorities received a tip that he was there.
Stallard was taken into custody without incident, and will face parole violation charges and possibly new charges.
Authorities also arrested fellow parole absconder Mike Miller who was with Stallard at the Stugis scene.
Two females could be charged for allegedly helping Stallard escape from Lapeer, after apparently picking him up nearby and driving away.
Stallard is serving a prison term of 11 to 25 years for a 1999 armed robbery in St. Joseph County.
Miller was a parole absconder from St. Joseph County after serving time in prison for possession of methamphetamine.
