ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (WOOD) - The strength of Hurricane Sandy -- affecting 60 million people along the East Coast of the United States -- can be seen and felt into the Great Lakes region.
By 1 p.m. Monday, the US Coast Guard said the 30 knot winds were responsible for 8-foot waves, and they anticipate waves between 16-20 feet by midnight.

The huge waves are expected to continue through Tuesday.
Only a handful of people were at the beaches along Lake Michigan.
