COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The half-brother of a man whose body was found in an irrigation ditch in March was arrested in connection with the death.
The body of Ivory Lee Shaver III was found March 13 in a drainage ditch on 72nd Street near 40th Avenue in a rural area of Van Buren County. Shaver was 26 and from Grand Junction.
Shaver's body was found by a local farmer who went to his blueberry field to begin clearing it for spring.
The body was so significantly decomposed that police couldn't immediately identify it -- even tattoos were unreadable. Authorities believed he'd died in November 2011.
On Tuesday, a full bouquet of flowers surrounded a cross and teddy bear near where Shaver's body was found in Covert Township.
During the investigation, Antonio Lewis became a suspect. He is the 37-year-old half-brother of Shaver. He was arrested Tuesday and faces an open murder charge.
Lewis, of Grand Junction, is being held without bond. His preliminary exam on the charges is set for Sept. 12.
