Man burned from explosion in garage

MATTAWAN, Mich. (WOOD) - A man suffered flash burns on his face and neck during an explosion at his home in Mattawan.
He was burned after hearing an explosion and opening the door from the house to the garage around 8 p.m. Tuesday, authorities told 24 Hour News 8.
Firefighters were dispatched to his residence in the 23000 block of M-43 and doused the flames. The extent of the damage is unknown.
An ambulance crew transported the homeowner to Bronson Methodist Hospital. His condition is unknown.
A Mattawan firefighter died of an apparent heart attack en route to the house explosion.
