PAW PAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 39-year-old woman from Paw Paw Township was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly being "Super Drunk" and leading authorities on a slow-speed chase.

Van Buren County sheriff's deputies on patrol around 12 p.m. on Red Arrow Highway attempted to stop a 1999 Mercury Cougar after its driver was driving erratically. But the driver would not comply

She led deputies on a two-mile pursuit with speeds never going above 45 miles per hour. The suspect was forced to slow down and finally stop when she approached congested traffic at the 41st Street intersection in Paw Paw Township, according to a news release.

Deputies said the driver was reluctant to unlock her car door and admitted she wouldn't stop because she knew she would go to jail, and had a small dog with her that needed to get home.

She was considered to be "Super Drunk" with a blood alcohol content of 0.26. She was driving on a suspended license due to a prior "Super Drunk" conviction, police said.

She was transported to the Van Buren County Jail for attempting to flee and elude, driving while license suspended and operating while intoxicated "Super Drunk."

Deputies said the dog was taken to the Van Buren County Animal Control facility where relatives later took the animal home.
