PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 52-year-old motorcyclist has died after being critically injured when a deer ran out in front of him on Sixth Avenue near 23rd Street in Van Buren County.

Thomas Parlsey passed away Wednesday at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, police said.

Just before 1 p.m. Monday, police said, Parsley was riding east in Pine Grove Township when the deer ran out. He was not able to avoid it and ejected after the collision.

A passing motorist called 911 and Parsley was airlifted to the hospital.

Parsley, from Bloomindale, was wearing a helmet and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
