GIRARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man suffered burns to his hands, arms and upper body when his home caught fire after an apparent propane explosion Tuesday afternoon.
It happened in the 800 block of Doves Landing in Girard Township around 1:45 p.m. according to a news release.
When Coldwater firefighters arrived after receiving reports of explosions, the residence was engulfed in flames. Two adjacent residences were also on fire.
Both secondary fires were attacked, as well as flames near exposed propane storage tanks. The Union City Fire Department assisted by providing tankers.
The victim was treated at the scene for his injuries.
The main residence sustained heavy damage. The structure to the north received damage to its attic and exterior walls, but the majority of its contents were saved. The structure to the south received damage to the siding.
The official cause of the fire is still being investigated.
