GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Police in Van Buren County are investigating two apparent separate burglaries.
The first crime occurred at Lacota Church on 60th Street just south of County Road 388 in Geneva Township.
A member of the congregation had stopped to check on an issue and discovered a window broken out of the front door at 7:56 p.m. on Sept. 27, police said. The member then discovered the hasp and lock had been pried from the storage shed, and called police.
An acoustic guitar and a 100-foot extension cord were taken from the scene.
There are no leads or suspects at this time.
Then sometime during the early morning hours of Sept. 28 someone broke into Fideland Fun Park Amusement Center, 68099 County Road 388 in Geneva Township.
Deputies learned the suspect(s) gained entry into the business by breaking through a window that caused damage to the exterior of the building, according to a news release.
Various items were taken from inside the business, and extensive damage was sustained to the entertainment activities including video arcades, pinball machines, and other pay-to-play activities.
Additional damage was sustained to the various display and show cases where items for sale were kept.
The owner and deputies estimate the amount of loss and damage is in excess of $10,000.
Anyone with information about either crime is asked to call the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office at 269.657.3101 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100 or 1.866.774.2345.
