STURGIS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 3-year-old child was removed from his home after the Sturgis Police Department and Children's Protective Services found crack pipes and drugs inside the residence.

Warrants will be issued for the child's parents, a 23-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment.

Police were dispatched around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of Cato Lane to assist Children's Protective Services with a child neglect case.

Children's Protective Services workers called for police assistance after they discovered two crack pipes on an end table in the bedroom of the apartment, according to police.

Once police arrived at the St. Joseph County home, they seized the two pipes and also found methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and packaging material.

Children Protective Services put the child into protective custody.
