ATVs crash head-on; 3 people hurt

Victims taken to trauma care unit

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich (WOOD) - Three people were hurt when two ATVs crashed head-on in Van Buren County.

It is not known if drugs or alcohol were involved in the wreck that occurred at 4:43 a.m. Saturday in the 55000 block of County Road 380 in Columbia Township.

A witness told deputies that both ATVs were traveling in the road, one in each direction, with their lights off when they collided. Two people were aboard one of the vehicles that landed in a ditch on its side, and the other ATV went off the road before stopping with its lone rider.

A 26-year-old man from Grand Junction was driving the first four-wheeler with a 20-year old passenger from Breedsville on it. Both men suffered multiple injuries were transported to the trauma care unit at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. They are expected to survive.

The other driver -- a 26-year-old man from Bangor -- also suffered multiple injuries. Air Care transported him to the trauma care unit. He is expected to survive.
