Accused drunk mom faces misdemeanors

PAW PAW, Mich. (WOOD) - A Portage elementary school teacher accused of having a blood alcohol content five times over the legal limit entered a not guilty plea Monday.
37-year-old Leslie Buscher was arrested July 15 in Antwerp Township after Van Buren sheriff deputies say they found her in a SUV slumped over the steering wheel. Two children, ages 2 and 4, and a party cup half full of vodka were also found inside the vehicle.
Sheriff's officials say Buscher's BAC was more than .40; the legal limit in Michigan is .08.
Buscher, a 5th grade teacher at Lake Center Elementary school in Portage, waived her arraignment on Monday and pleaded not guilty in a written notice through her attorney that was submitted to the Van Buren County District court.
Buscher is charged with two misdemeanors: Operating with a blood alcohol content of .17 or more and operating while intoxicated with a passenger under 16 years of age.
