SOUTH HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A South Haven teenager died when the car he was in crashed and rolled, ejecting him.
Jaylin "Kyree" Hatter, 16, was one of four teenagers in the car when it crashed around 6 p.m. Friday at County Road 380 and 72nd Street in South Haven Township.
Investigators believe the driver, 16-year-old Joshua Preston of South Haven, was trying to pass another car when his vehicle went off the paved road. Preston over-corrected, causing the car to roll several times before ending in a ditch.
When police arrived, they began CPR on Hatter, but weren't able to save him.
The other passengers have been identified as 16-year-old Latisha Session and 16-year-old Jaqui Jeffries, both of South Haven. They were taken to a hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said none of the teens had their seat belt on.
