After a weekend off, the jurors deciding the fate of Anthony and Marsha Springer began deliberating in St. Joseph County, across the street from the home where Calista Springer died in a house fire while chained to her bed.
The case was moved from St. Joseph County - where the Springers lived - to Kalamazoo County for an impartial jury. Kalamazoo County set aside a court room for three weeks, and that time frame ended last week.
Marsha and Anthony Springer are charged with felony murder, child abuse and torture in the death of Calista, 16, in 2008. She suffocated during a house fire, chained to her bed.
The jurors deliberated until 4 p.m. They will resume deliberations on Wednesday after once again being driven from Kalamazoo to the courthourse by sheriff's deputies.
