COLDWATER, Mich. (WOOD) - A pilot made an emergency landing Monday afternoon just off South Sprague Street in Coldwater after his plane had engine failure.
He landed safely in a grassy area around 2:30 p.m. The pilot took out some phone lines on his landing, but was not injured.
"The pilot ... was up walking around and talking on his cell phone 30 seconds after he touched down," said Sgt. Patrick Barkowski of the Michigan State Police.
The plane is registered to an Oakland County resident. It was manufactured by Piper in 1965.
