SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (AP) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has scheduled a public meeting next month on safety issues at southwestern Michigan's troubled Palisades power plant.
The agency says the meeting is Dec. 11 at the Beach Haven Center in South Haven.
Mlive.com says the meeting will deal with the results of significant safety inspection findings at the plant, which is on the Lake Michigan shoreline in Van Buren County's Covert Township.
The plant is owned by New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. and has had repeated safety issues and shutdowns.
The NRC said Feb. 9 that it will continue extra inspections of the power plant.
Regulators say their 11-day inspection in September has "adequately addressed" problems identified last year but say additional oversight is needed to ensure that the remaining corrective actions are properly implemented.
