BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 66-year-old man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding on crashed into a deer Saturday on W. Bater Rd. in Branch County's Batavia Township.
George Jones was riding east with Janice Jones, 60, on a Honda Trike motorcycle around 7:30 p.m. when a deer ran in front of him and he couldn't avoid hitting it. The motorcycle crashed into the westbound ditch and flipped, throwing both riders from the motorcycle.
When Branch County Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene, they found George Jones laying in the ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Janice Jones was being helped by a woman who had stopped at the scene. She was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
