PAW PAW, Mich. (WOOD) - The trial for a former Portage teacher accused of driving drunk with her kids in the back seat began and ended Thurday -- but the outcome isn't yet known.
Leslie Buscher was arrested in July 2011 after deputies found her slumped over the steering wheel of her SUV in Van Buren County's Antwerp Township.
Buscher is charged under Michigan's "super drunk" law -- operating with a blood alcohol content of .17 or more -- and with operating while intoxicated with a passenger under the age of 16.
Police say she had a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of more than .4 at the time of her arrest -- five times over the legal limit of .08.
Beacuse the "super drunk" law is relatively new, the case was dismissed and appealed before it went to this trial.
The trial ended Thursday, but the judge has not yet ruled on the case.
Buscher resigned from Portage Public Schools on Sept. 14.
