PAW PAW, Mich. (WOOD) - Famed environmental activist Erin Brockovich is setting up camp in West Michigan this week, as her team takes on two water contamination sites.
The team will meet Monday night with residents in Paw Paw about a potential soil contamination.
The contamination allegedly comes from juice waste applied to fields behind the Coca-Cola beverage plant.
Brockovich's chief investigator will hold the meeting at 6 p.m. at Paw Paw High School to discuss what is next for residents.
Brockovich will be in Fennville on Tuesday to investigate reports of contaminated water there.
Some residents say chemicals from a nearby Birds Eye Foods plant tainted their groundwater.
Experts with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality believe the company is responsible. They say organic material the company discharges causes oxygen depletion in the groundwater, allowing for heavy metals to seep in.
Birds Eye Foods officials deny the allegations.
Brockovich will lead a town hall meeting from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Fennville Elementary School.
