LAWRENCE, Mich. (WOOD) - More than 50 cats were found in a Van Buren County home earlier this month.
A Child Protective Services worker was visiting the residence in Lawrence and noticed the abundance of animals. The worker then contacted the Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Southwest Michigan and Animal's Best Friend.
Officials from both groups went to the home on July 3 and began removing the cats, Michelle McNatt of Animal's Best Friend told 24 Hour News 8.
She said they continue to search for new homes for the cats. You can call her at (269) 998-9744 for more information.
McNatt said they are contacted to investigate about five pet hoarding situations a year in southwest Michigan.
