Some major accidents across West Michigan on Thursday due to slippery conditions on the roads:
Allegan County:
Around 6 p.m., a truck jacknifed on US-131 at Mile Marker 61, closing the road for a time.
An ambulance slid off M-222 near 24th and went into a ditch, and may have hit some trees on Thursday afternoon. A patient was being transported at the time. Two crew members were in the ambulance, and all three were taken by a different ambulance to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The ambulance may have been driving too fast for the conditions, an officer told 24 Hour News 8.
Berrien County:
All three lanes of eastbound I-94 were closed at mile marker 25, east of Stevensville, in the morning because three semi-trucks jackknifed across the freeway. Michigan Department of Transportation officials say the trucks were cleared and the lanes were reopened at around 11:20 a.m.
Kalamazoo County:
A semi-truck jackknifed at around 11 a.m. on I-94 near Sprinkle Road. The left lane of the eastbound side of the highway was closed until 1:15 p.m.
Kent County:
A semi-truck jackknifed, resulting in some chain-reaction collisions at around 11 a.m. on I-96 near Plainfield Avenue. The westbound lanes were reopened at around 1 p.m.
Van Buren County:
A 27-year-old woman from the Sister Lakes area was arrested Wednesday and is being held at the Van Buren County jail on charges for operating while intoxicated, child endangerment (for transporting her 4-year-old son) and possession of marijuana. The crash occurred in Keeler Township when the woman was traveling too fast for the weather and road conditions, deputies say. She lost control and hit another vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Keeler. That woman was transporting two adults and two 2-year-old children, who were all treated on scene for minor injuries.
