DETROIT (AP) - Authorities say a Detroit Chrysler factory employee fatally stabbed his co-worker in view of their colleagues in the plant's loading dock area.
Detroit police Inspector Dwane Blackmon says the suspect fled the Jefferson North plant Thursday morning and shot himself to death at a nearby city park.
According to Blackmon, police arrived at the east-side plant to find the victim dead and the suspect gone.
Police say the two exchanged words before the killing and that there was an ongoing dispute between them. The knife used by the suspect has been recovered.
Chrysler Senior Vice President Scott Garberding says no weapons are allowed inside the plant, which does not have metal detectors.
Blackmon says authorities won't release the identities of the suspect and the victim until relatives have been notified.
