ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - An assistant state attorney general accused of frequently harassing a gay student assembly president at the University of Michigan has been allowed back on the Ann Arbor campus with restrictions.
Twenty-one-year-old Chris Armstrong claimed Andrew Shirvell frequently harassed him over a five-month period. Shirvell started a blog in April that regularly lambasted Armstrong as a racist with a "radical homosexual agenda."
Shirvell appealed a Sept. 14 campus ban that was modified after the 30-year-old lawyer, his attorneys and a department of public safety official met Friday.
The Michigan Daily, AnnArbor.com and the Detroit Free Press report Shirvell can't have "physical or verbal contact" with Armstrong or be anywhere where he can reasonably anticipate Armstrong will be present.
