WIXOM, Mich. (WOOD) - A 43-year-old Wixom man is in custody connected to a series of shootings on and around I-96 in several counties.
The man was arrested at his Wixom residence Monday night, authorities said, based on information and tips received during the past few days during the investigation.
Relatives told The Detroit News that the man arrested is 43-year-old Raulie Casteel. Authorities have not yet confirmed the man's identity.
Evidence was seized from his home, including a car. The man is known to have driven a car that matched the description of the shooter's vehicle provided by a witness to one of the shootings.
Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wrigglesworth said, "I am sure he is the man." He added, "I don't know if I could put together a motive."
No further information is being released at this time by the four county prosecutors and the US attorney involved in the case.
Police said they've received 2,800 tips in the case, in which 24 shooting attacks on vehicles and people have occurred, the Associated Press reports.
A $102,000 reward is out for information in the shootings that have been reported in four counties in and near the Interstate 96 corridor, in Oakland, Livingston, Ingham, and Shiawassee counties.
One driver was injured. Most attacks occurred three weeks ago, and 10 were in Wixom.
Anonymous tips can be reported to 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
