DETROIT (AP) - Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been cleared following an allegation he touched his wife's breast during a prison visit last year.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report the Michigan Department of Corrections determined April 12 that misconduct didn't take place. Evidence reviewed included a video of the July 4 visit at Oaks Correctional Facility near Manistee.
Defense lawyer James Thomas is pleased the matter was resolved.
Kilpatrick is locked up for violating probation in a 2008 criminal case. He was transferred this month to a state prison in Jackson County from a federal prison to start the parole process. A review is to determine whether he should be released as soon as July 24.
In a separate matter, he is awaiting trial on federal corruption charges.
