Another Ambassador Bridge bomb threat

DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police say they received another fake threat of a bomb on the Ambassador Bridge, but this time authorities kept the busy international crossing open while they investigated the call.

Police said Thursday night that the call came about 5:15 p.m. the previous day. A similar call Monday prompted the closing of the U.S.-Canada link for several hours.

This time, Sgt. Eren Stephens says, police let traffic continue.

A statement from police says "preliminary Intelligence" indicates that Wednesday's caller "may have made hoax bomb threats in the past."

Police say authorities "officially cleared" the bridge at 7 p.m.

On July 12, a telephoned bomb threat triggered a four-hour closing of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. But authorities let Comerica Park remain open Tuesday despite a bomb threat during a Detroit Tigers game.
