DETROIT (AP) - Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is back in the Lone Star state.
One day after his release from state prison in Michigan, Kilpatrick met Wednesday with parole officials in Fort Worth, Texas.
Kilpatrick was released on parole Tuesday after serving a little over a year for violating probation in a 2008 criminal case.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Kilpatrick's parole order required he leave Michigan within 24 hours of his parole. He had another 24 hours to register with parole officials in Texas.
His wife and three sons have been living in suburban Dallas.
Kilpatrick's federal trial on fraud, tax crimes and a racketeering conspiracy is scheduled to start in September 2012. He's accused of taking kickbacks and bribes to steer city business to certain contractors.
