BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - State police have released the names of a Costa Rican woman killed and a Michigan pilot injured when the man's 1940s-era, single-engine plane crashed a swampy area near a southeastern Michigan airport.

Brighton Area Fire Authority Fire Chief Michael O'Brian tells WWJ-AM (http://cbsloc.al/O2TRQK ) a Cessna-type plane crashed Saturday morning in a swampy area on the edge of Woodland Lake near Brighton Airport in Livingston County.

O'Brian says the injured person was being flown to University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, about 20 miles south of the crash.

NBC Detroit affiliate WDIV is reporting the plane experienced engine trouble and crashed into a swamp feet away from the airport, according to Michigan State Police.

Lt. Dan Davis said Sunday that dead woman was 56-year-old Ana Lorena Arguedas Ortega. He didn't have her hometown.

Davis identifies the pilot as 79-year-old Walter Davenport of Brighton. Davenport was reported in serious condition at the University of Michigan medical center.
