HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) - An antique carousel and street organ at Windmill Island Gardens in southwestern Michigan need specialized repairs that could cost more than $100,000.
The Holland Sentinel reports that word of the needed repairs comes as park officials seek to raise money for roughly $750,000 in repairs to the 250-year-old DeZwaan windmill, the Holland park's well-known attraction.
The carousel was built in 1908 and bought by the city of Holland in the 1970s. It is working fine, but the animals on which riders sit need about $84,000 in restoration.
The organ was built in 1928 and given to Holland in 1947 by the city of Amsterdam. It is played 10 times a day over the summer, the park's busiest months. The estimate for the organ's repair is about $25,000.
