GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - One person is in critical condition after being involved in a Georgetown Township crash being blamed on the fog.
It happened around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Van Buren Street and 16th Avenue.
The driver of a Ford Escape headed south on 16th Avenue stopped at the Van Buren stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection. The driver of an eastbound Dodge Ram pickup truck was unable to avoid the Escape. The truck collided with the SUV's driver's side door, causing the Escape to roll.
The driver of the Escape, 21-year-old Kelsey Gibson of Hudsonville, had to be extricated from the SUV. She sustained critical injuries and was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
The driver of the pickup, 33-year-old Nicholas Van Dyke of Jenison, was not hurt.
Visibility was limited because of heavy fog, according to Ottawa County authorities.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and both vehicles' headlights were on.
