PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 17-year-old male has been charged as an adult for assault with attempt to commit murder after stabbing his roommate, authorities said.

Eric Ortega is in the Ottawa County Jail on a $750,000 bond following Monday's arraignment.

The unnamed, 32-year-old victim is in critical condition at a Grand Rapids hospital.

The suspect and victim were arguing late Friday night at their residence in the 4000 block of 144th Avenue in Park Township, police said.

The victim was suffering from multiple stab wounds in his chest and neck area, and the suspect had fled when Ottawa County sheriff's deputies arrived.

Another roommate tried to stop the fight and called 911, police said.

Ortega was arrested early Saturday morning at a relative's home.
