HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A traffic stop of three alleged shoplifters escalated quickly in Ottawa County when one of the teens had a gun and fought with a deputy.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday, police were called after the three 19-year-olds were spotted leaving a Meijer store without paying for a large amount of alcohol.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department spotted the car at Riley and 128th. The three suspects were all inside the car, but as they were being taken, one showed a revolver in his waistband. Deputies tried to restrain him and get the gun, but a fight ensued.

No shots were fired, but one deputy was slightly injured.

The three were arraigned on Friday. They are:

  • Jordan-DaQuan Laneil London, who is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstrucing an officer causing injury, possession of a weapon by a felon
  • Joshua Michael Mendoza, who is charged with resisting and obstrucing an officer causing injury and cocaine possession
  • Demetrius William Viney Jr., who is charged with resisting and obstrucing a police officer causing injury and retail fraud.
