BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The search for Big Rapids resident Fred Byrne continues, but leads are still sparse.
Big Rapids Department of Public Safety Det. Brian Miller told 24 Hour News 8 Thursday that investigators are waiting on Michigan State Police Crime Lab results from evidence taken from Byrne's car, which was found in Van Buren, Mo. on Feb. 14. They hope to get those results by early next week.
Illinois transportation officials are also on the case. They have combed though toll road footage and did not see Byrne's car.
Miller said he continues to work with Holland police and that they have found no connection between Byrne's disappearance and the missing persons case of Emelene Van Dyke . The search for Byrne and Van Dyke continues.
"Anything is possible. You just hope that you are as thorough as possible so that nothing has a chance to slip by," Miller told 24 Hour News 8 last week.
