HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) - A scene near West Michigan's Holland State Park made the cover of the state's new tourism guide, but an official says the scenery didn't get proper credit.
The Holland Sentinel reports the spring/summer issue of the "Pure Michigan" guide identified the location of a photo showing three men on stand-up paddleboards as being St. Joseph. It's actually the Lake Michigan shoreline just north of Holland State Park.
Sally Laukitis, executive director of the Holland Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, says the cover spot reaffirms Holland as a hot tourism spot. She says it was corrected online.
Michelle Begnoche, a spokeswoman for the state's "Pure Michigan" tourism effort, says officials regret Holland wasn't correctly identified. She says the photo aims to represent the state's offerings "rather than a specific locality."
